MEET THE CREATOR STORMY PYEATTE
Stormy Pyeatte is a photographer & video artist with a passion for lighting, projection mapping and floral design. While her commercial work focuses on creating product photography and visuals for brands, her personal Instagram is a space for creative exploration-where she shares personal projects, lighting demos, and experiments with new techniques. Stormy enjoys creating using practical effects, blending the tactile with the technological.

What inspired you to start your content creation journey?
For years, I worked as a florist but had this itch to create something that was truly my own. In 2017, I could finally afford a decent computer, so I carved out time outside of work to pursue a personal creative practice. At first, I wasn’t very good—I experimented and made a lot of bad (and I mean bad) stuff. But I kept going.
When did you realize that content creation was something you wanted to pursue seriously?
I’ve found that creativity thrives on momentum, but without structure, it’s easy to let it slip. Social media became my unexpected solution—not just where I shared my work, but an accountability tool. Posting my work, no matter how rough, helped me track my progress and stay motivated. Even now, I scroll back through my old posts to remind myself how far I’ve come.

Can you walk us through your early days as a content creator?
At first, I only shared final images, assuming no one cared about the process. Social media felt like it belonged to people with picture-perfect homes and curated lives, and my reality was far from that. I lived in affordable spaces with secondhand furniture and didn’t think anyone would want to see the mess behind my work.
What inspired you to start filming your creative process?
One day, I was having so much fun creating that I decided to share glimpses of my process on Instagram Stories. To my surprise, my friends loved it! They wanted to see the setups, the problem-solving, and the improvisation. That positive feedback made me realize that sharing my process in a raw, unpolished way was perfectly fine.

Who or what influences your content the most?
Right now, I’m really inspired by journalist Cleo Abram and her YouTube channel ‘Huge if True.’ She’s incredible at breaking down complex topics and delivering them in an engaging way on camera. I think I’ve gotten a little better at being on camera just from watching her.
How do you deal with creative block?
I experience creative blocks all the time, and I’ve accepted that it’s just part of the process. When it happens, I either challenge myself to learn something new or experiment with a current skill or technique. That usually gets ideas moving again. Sometimes, a creative block isn’t about a lack of ideas—it’s about exhaustion. When that’s the case, I give myself permission to rest. I’ll play video games nonstop or wander through a museum—anything to break the cycle of ‘I have to come up with something!!!’ That’s usually all it takes to reset.
What’s been your proudest moment as a content creator?
One of the coolest opportunities was being invited to exhibit in a group show at the Saatchi Gallery in London. They asked me to be part of ‘FLOWERS – FLORA IN CONTEMPORARY ART & CULTURE.’ I couldn’t believe it. The show features work from artists like Andy Warhol, David Shrigley, Vivienne Westwood, and one of my personal heroes, Brazilian artist Vik Muniz. Walking through Chelsea and arriving at the gallery, I saw my work printed massive at the entrance—it was the poster. Seeing it displayed so prominently in that space, in that neighborhood, was something I never imagined when I first started creating.
