MEET THE CREATOR

Can you introduce yourself and tell us what type of content you create?

My name is Elizabeth Elder, and I’m a fine-art fantasy photographer. My work combines surreal fairytales with high-fashion couture. Through photography, I seek to transform the ethereal and otherworldly into something real.

What inspired you to pursue photography?

I was originally a model, and I often wasn’t pleased with how I was photographed or depicted. I realized that, from behind the camera, I could capture people the way I saw them—and make them feel beautiful.

What inspired you to pursue photography?

When did you realize this was something you wanted to pursue seriously?

In early 2022, I planned a photoshoot on the sand dunes and created some of my favorite images of all time. That was when I realized this was the kind of art I wanted to create more of and share with the world.

Each shoot is its own creative challenge.

How do you bring a new creative concept to life?

I usually begin with one element and build the project around it. It often starts with an outfit or a collaboration with a designer. From there, I bring together the location, set design, lighting, and model to create the complete visual world.

How do you bring a new creative concept to life?

How do you stay creative and avoid burnout?

I challenge myself to create something new and learn from every shoot. Working with new people also introduces different perspectives, while taking time away helps me return to my work with fresh energy.

How do you stay creative and avoid burnout?

Don’t be afraid to challenge yourself.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting out?

Don’t be afraid to try new things and challenge yourself. When something inspires you, study how it was made and why you are drawn to it. That is how you learn to make something familiar feel uniquely your own.
