MEET THE CREATOR

What inspired you to start your content creation journey?
I began in 2022, and back then I hadn’t seen very many videos on TikTok and Instagram that showed ways to do cinematic lighting on a budget. I felt like there was a gap to fill, and I had always wanted to show people just how approachable and affordable filmmaking could be.
Can you walk us through your early days as a content creator?
I began with a series called “30 shots in 30 days” posted only to TikTok at first! I basically just tried to set up one cinematic shot and make that into a video every day for a whole month. That quick turnaround time actually helped me a lot in learning very quickly!

What was the first piece of content that gained significant attention?
It was really early on. Day number 4. I got over 100k views! I was thrilled, especially because by Day 4, I was already feeling pretty unmotivated. I remember thinking afterwards that “my life is about to change”, and then it really didn’t. One viral video is just one step towards it all, but it did help me feel motivated to keep going and realized that this idea had potential.

Experiment until something clicks.
How do you stay creative and avoid burnout?
I always try to challenge myself in everything I do. I’ve always found that if things get repetitive, it gets really exhausting for me. It’s hard to recognize too, because trying new things always triggers some amount of fear for most people. So repetition feels safe, but it’s also ultimately not very fulfilling, especially for creatives! So at least once a year, I try something new for my content. Whether or not it works, that always helps me get excited again.

What’s been your proudest moment as a content creator?
For me, it was a really big deal to hire anyone to help me with the videos. I like to have a lot of control over my own content, so letting go of some of that was a big moment for me, and I was proud of myself for doing so, and now I’m really proud to work with the people I hire!
Where do you see yourself as a content creator in the next few years?
One of my biggest goals is to make a feature length film, so I really want to start on that process and share the journey of that within the next few years!
